DILDOX: MAKE THE MACHINE SWEAT

DILDOX are a Los Angeles electro-industrial duo made up of Sophie Alieninova and Davey Shook. Somewhere between synth-punk, EBM, industrial and post-punk, their music takes the cold machinery of electronic music and pushes it somewhere considerably less controlled. Alieninova handles vocals, synths and drum triggers. Shook works across guitar, programming and synths. Together, they make music built around friction: primitive impulse against modern life, flesh against circuitry, discipline against the urge to lose control. That tension runs through Bound to Submit, their 2024 EP examining how little separates modern civilization from the instincts buried underneath it. Technology advances. Systems become more complicated. The body remains stubbornly primitive.
It is a fitting idea for DILDOX. Their music may be electronic, but little about it feels detached. Beats hit hard enough to become physical. Synths grind rather than shimmer. Alieninova's vocals move between command, confrontation and collapse. Onstage, the separation between performer and audience becomes increasingly irrelevant. There are traces of the industrial and body music that came before them, but DILDOX aren't particularly interested in embalming the past. The equipment may have changed. The impulse hasn't. DILDOX make the machine sweat.
